Is Google cheating with us???

Quite a few days back, I was just going through Google maps and found a strange thing. That was really shocking. Anyone would feel cheated with that.

We all know that Anurachal Pradesh is a part of our country. But there have been disputes among India and China, the latter claiming it to be a part of theirs.

If you happen to see Anurachal Pradesh through Google Maps - Indian Server (http://maps.google.co.in/), they show Anurachal Pradesh as a part of India.

Now according to this picture, Arunachal Pradesh is a part of India, which is correct!

But, if we see through the americal server (http://www.maps.google.com/), Arunachal Pradesh is depicted as an independent country.

And now, if we see it through the chinese server, (http://ditu.google.com/), it is shown as a part of China.

Here, Arunachal Pradesh is shown as a part of China. Even some part of Jammu & Kashmir is shown as a part of China.

The same place is shown as three different things from three different servers. I just wanted you all to know about this. Now, it's upto you to decide if this is cheating or not...

  3. Nope.. Its not cheating :).
The google can't help it, if people are stupid and try to claim everything as theirs :).
Atleast that is what I think :P :D.

Nice blog you have Ritvik :)

  4. Google is quite a big entity. People look upto it.
As they say, with power comes responsibility. It can't be going on publicizing wrong information on the internet. The UN has seized international boundries and such claims have infact no base. :)

Thank you so very much. Such "Gifts" keep me writing.

By the way, I'm planning to write on the dispute of Kashmir next, like the whole history. So, stay tuned! :-)
